On behalf of the Ottawa Senior Pride Network, we extend our heartfelt condolences and our deepest support to the people of the small town of Tumbler Ridge, BC. As parents and grandparents, we share in the grief of the community at this senseless act of violence resulting in the deaths of much-loved young students as well as adults, including a teacher. The lives of the people of Tumbler Ridge have been forever changed.

We condemn this act of violence. There is no place for violence in our schools or in our communities. As we mourn with Tumbler Ridge and all Canadians, we also stand with Two-Spirit, transgender and gender-diverse communities. Everyone has a role to play in supporting those who feel vulnerable and at risk, and we will do what we can to ensure that they are safe.
