OSPN Statement on Capital Pride 2024
This year the OSPN was nominated and accepted the great position as “Group of Honour” for the Capital Pride Festival. With that acceptance, comes the responsibility of fulfilling that obligation. Also, making statements outside our “Mission” is not within our mandate. Many of our members have expressed pain, discomfort, sadness and some even want us to withdraw from the festival.
Therefore:
- We do not take ANY official position on the Middle East crisis.
- We serve the ENTIRE Senior Queer community of the Capital Region.
- While we support the general mission of the Capital Pride Organization that does NOT include their official statement on the Middle East
- We soundly REJECT the statement for the pain, divisiveness, discomfort and overall bad faith nature the statement has caused throughout the queer community and our allies.
