Dear OSPN Members and Supporters,

It is with much excitement that we write to you today to share some wonderful news.

The Ottawa Senior Pride Network (OSPN) has been selected to be the Honoured Group at the 2024 Capital Pride Festival!

This recognition is a testament to our collective efforts in advocating for the rights and well-being of 2SLGBTQI+ seniors in the capital region for over 16 years. As we prepare for this incredible honour, we are calling on our amazing community to come together to show how beautifully diverse and rich in history and connections we seniors are. Let’s show it proudly, boldly and loudly and make this the most exciting Pride event you have ever participated in.

Call for Volunteers

As the Honoured Group we get to lead the parade along with the Grand Marshal. With your help we can ensure that our senior community is proudly visible at the Capital Pride Festival. Here are some ways you can get involved.

1. Parade Participation:
Join us in the Pride Parade to represent OSPN and our older 2SLGBTQI+ population with pride and joy. Let’s show up in vibrant colours and celebrate our community! For more information about ways to help out and/or participate with the Parade, contact the parade coordinator Kerry at kbeckett2178@gmail.com or just show up on parade day and find us near the front to walk with us. The parade starts at the corner of Laurier and Elgin at 1pm on Sunday, August 25.

2. Booth Volunteers:
We will have a booth at the Pride Street Fair on Bank Street, close to the Gilmour intersection, on Saturday, August 24 and Sunday, August 25 from 12 noon to 8 pm. Drop by to say hello and find out how busy are and what we have been up to. If you have some time we would love some more volunteers to staff our booth so that we share the joy and community atmosphere as well as the light duty work of greeting visitors and sharing information about OSPN, and generally spread our message of inclusivity and support.
