The members of the Board of Directors are writing to inform you that George Hartsgrove has resigned from his position of President of the Board of Ottawa Senior Pride Network. He will, however, remain on the Board, where he will lend his expertise and his historical knowledge of OSPN. He will also continue to coordinate Monday night bowling, serve on the Health and LTC Committee as well as continue with the housing initiative and the dragon boat club. An interim President will be elected during the next Board of Directors meeting.

We are also announcing the resignation from the Board of Eva Rosenberg, who was Chair of the Communications Committee. Eva was involved in preparing OSPN’s Communications Policy, which should be adopted at the next Board meeting.

We are grateful that George took on the responsibility of President of OSPN for so many years,  and offer our sincere thanks to him, and also to Eva, who has given freely of her knowledge to ensure that OSPN reaches as many queer seniors as possible. 

The Board invites expressions of interest from OSPN members who are interested in joining the Board of Directors or a Committee. We are looking for people who have the following expertise:

• Experience in non-profit or charitable organizations.
• Legal expertise.
• Accounting background.
• Communications & IT expertise.
• Marketing background.
• Public speaking experience.
• Work or volunteer or experience in healthcare, LTC, caregiving, advocacy or other issues facing queer seniors.
• A strong interest in ensuring that queer seniors live fulfilling lives or who have applicable skills not mentioned above.

Members of the Board of Directors can expect to spend 4-6 hours a month at Board meetings and preparing for them. Committee Chairs should expect to spend 4 to 6 hours per quarter organizing and attending Committee meetings and reporting to the Board on Committee activities. Committee members should expect to spend 2-4 hours per quarter attending Committee meetings or activities.
